ASCII art, inscribed in Chia transaction memos.

ASCII-MEMORY turns a picture into ASCII art small enough to fit in a transaction memo, sends it through your Sage wallet, and reads it back from the chain. Once confirmed, it stays on chain for good.

No NFT minting, no smart contract and no server: just an XCH payment carrying your art.

Anyone can send any memo to any address

Every Chia payment can carry memos, and nobody needs permission to attach one. You can inscribe art on your own address, on The Wall, or on any other address. The receiver doesn't have to accept it and can't refuse it.

Two presets in the generator

Shared

The Wall

minimum per inscription

  • One shared address that everyone can post to.
  • Only payments of 1 XCH or more appear on The Wall. Smaller ones are ignored.
  • The XCH goes to the wall address and can't be returned.

Address:

Inscribe on The Wall
Personal

My Memos

any amount counts

  • Your wallet's first unhardened address, read from the wallet logged in to Sage.
  • Every inscription sent to it shows in the My Memos tab, however small.
  • You pay yourself, so the only cost is the network fee.

A preset only fills in the address and amount. You can still send to any other address from the generator.

What's inside

The Wall

The shared wall: inscriptions of 1 XCH or more, with a live count, the latest ones, or the highest amounts first.

My Memos

Your personal wall: everything inscribed on your wallet's first address, with no minimum.

Generate

Turns a PNG or JPEG into ASCII art that fits a byte budget. Edit it by hand, pick a terminal style, then inscribe it through Sage.

View

Paste a coin ID or pending transaction ID to show its art in the style it was saved with, or any XCH address to list every inscription it received. You can export art as a PNG.

How an inscription works

  1. Drop an image into Generate. It becomes ASCII art sized to your byte budget.
  2. Pick a preset (The Wall or My Memos) or type any address.
  3. Review the transaction and approve it in Sage. The art and its terminal style travel as memos.
  4. Once confirmed, the art appears on The Wall or in My Memos and in View under the new coin ID.

The app reads the chain from the public coinset.org full-node API. Memo size is limited only by transaction cost, and larger art needs a larger fee. The generator shows the suggested fee.
